Home improvement is great for many reasons. First of all these small projects teach you new skills and are a great way to spend time with your family. Second of all they make living in your home more enjoyable and easy, and lastly they also improve the value of your house when you decide to move on to another one. Given the economy these days, people are investing more time, effort, and money into their homes in hopes that they can stem the tide of falling housing prices. In addition to fixing up bedrooms and living rooms, many people spruce up their bathrooms as well. Showers in particular are great targets for improvement. In particular, installing sliding shower doors and glass shelving in and around bathrooms are easy projects that will make using your bathroom even easier and more enjoyable.

If your shower still uses shower curtains, it is time to upgrade to a sliding shower door. They are easier to clean, more elegant, and keep water from ending up on the floor. Most shower doors are made of tempered glass, but clear glass and aluminum doors are available as well. On most doors, the profile and edges are constructed of anodized aluminum to add extra structural support. Some people opt for shower doors that swing out, but these get damaged more easily if they are inadvertently swung into another object.

Glass shelves are great for bathrooms since they are easy to clean and are resistant to soap and dirt materials messing them up. Many people are hesitant to install them inside showers, but if installed properly, tempered glass shelves are extremely strong and sturdy, minimizing any safety issue. In fact, many people these days are installing them on the inside of their sliding shower doors, so they have a movable glass shelf inside the shower available for toiletry storage. In these cases, mounted glass shelves are better than the floating variety, as safety and sturdiness are by far the most important features.
